Every holiday is an opportunity to explore Franklin. In Lakeland we just knew what each holiday entailed, in Franklin it is hit or miss. Fourth of July parade? Miss… Pumpkinfest? HIT! Halloween in the Park? Not so much…
Jason was in Florida Halloween weekend helping my mom move, so that left Monday to do the family thing and Halloween in the Park was at the community center that evening and very popular. This event is proof that popularity does not guarantee a good time. We stood in a line that would shame Disney World for an hour in 40 degree weather for about two handfuls of candy. lol They also had a haunted house (for grown-ups) and four large bounce houses. In hindsight we should have skipped the line and went for the bounce houses.
The thing is, they don’t really trick or treat around here. A co-worker of Jason’s mentioned that they drive to Highlands for that. Maybe we’ll hitch along next year with them. Here are some pics of the kids in their costumes:
Also in hindsight, the hat we spent so much time on, could have been left at home.
She looked pretty cute in it for all of five minutes.
I’m not sure if they do anything for Thanksgiving, but I’m pretty sure they do something for Christmas. I’m hoping that Franklin has a Christmas parade that will fill the void of the Lakeland one we will be missing this year.
