While searching for the other park in Franklin yesterday, we discovered the “rec” center and an oasis- the community pool! Woot!
It is open June through August 3, when school starts, so we have about a week and a half to swim. lol We took full advantage and decided to go the very next day. We got up this morning and went straight to the coolest place to buy bathing suits in town, Wal-Mart. I looked at some for me after trying on my prepregnancy swim suit (bikini!) and decided that a pair of boardshorts would have to suffice for cover-up. Nora was next and of the five they had in her size had to settle for a butterfly suit because the Ariel one she wanted was too big. Lorelei had only one choice; a 12 month Dora suit (I HATE Dora, I’m not sure why, maybe I just think she’s stupid, “we don’t know which way to go…”) which is fine for her cloth diaper booty, but the straps are a little loose. We’ll see if it fits in June of next year, prob not, but it was on clearance. :o)
We got home and ate lunch quickly and left for the pool. The kids were super excited. I lathered them down with sunscreen once we arrived and they both jumped in while I got the baby ready. Lorelei and I eased into the 1 1/2 ft deep area and she was all wide-eyed and taking it all in. Once she got used to the water she was kicking her legs and smiling and squealing, she loved it! We all hung out for a while getting used to the new surroundings and rules of the pool, making friends and stealing toys, oh wait that was just Noah. I got out with L after a while and recoated her with sunscreen. I then had the kids get out for a snack and recoated them as well. I neglected myself and have nice red knees and shoulders. We really enjoyed ourselves and stayed almost three hours. It gets just hot enough outside to enjoy the pool without it feeling like bath water. Lorelei fell asleep around 3pm and I got to play in the pool (just a few feet away) with Noah and Nora while she took her nap. It was a lovely afternoon! :o)
The Community Pool, from 1 1/2 to 8 ft deep
Me and Lorelei chillin’ while the big kids play in the pool. Yay, Lifeguards!
My cutie almost crawler
D-d-d-d-dora! Whoops! I threw up in my mouth a little…
Nora and Lorelei, I swear the baby smiles, just never on cue. ;o)
